A few nights ago we gathered for what we have lovingly named “Tyler’s Last Meal”. A couple of weeks ago Mike and I had the pleasure of meeting Tyler, our oldest bonus grandson, and his new young lady for dinner. It was our first time to meet Steffanye and we found her delightful. That evening Tyler asked about planning a family time and a big last meal for him. Tyler competes in body building and beginning August 1st he will start a very strict diet in preparation for a competition in November. We were happy to oblige his request; Charity volunteered Tyler’s dad, Mike H, to prepare his delicious handmade enchiladas, Courtney made a wonderful new recipe for rice she had a chance to learn from a Hispanic cook in Texas and I added the trimmings, homemade salsa, chips, queso, guacamole, salad, drinks, and for dessert I had baked a sopaipilla cheesecake.
The last meal gathering gave us the chance to meet 7 year old Ethan, Steffanye’s son. He is a sweet young boy and I hope our loud family didn’t scare him; we all certainly enjoyed getting to know him. After dinner a good size group splashed and enjoyed the swimming pool. Ethan and Colton totally loved having Tyler to “water rough house” with and Gabriel found Grandad a great pool companion, Grace and Kinsey played and posed for pics and Staffanye took a dip and visited with all the swimmers.
We all missed Jake, away on a business trip and hope he will be safely home soon. Eric we are all glad you didn’t let Jake’s absence keep you from coming to Shawnee. Roy, we are happy to have you back in Oklahoma and missed you last week.
Tyler I wish you good luck and know your hard work, dedication and commitment to your sport will serve you well. I know you will succeed, you have our love and support.
