New Day

Several weeks ago as Mike and I waited in a small exam room for the doctor to speak with us we noticed a print hanging on the wall. It was titled “The Essence of a New Day” and read,

This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind…let it be something good.

We were at a follow up visit with my cardiologist. We listened as he explained results of the tests I have had these past weeks. The reader’s digest condensed version of his words is that I have two heart murmurs, a slightly leaky valve and a thickening around a valve but all were minor and nothing requiring further procedures. He said he understood my concern with my father’s history but perhaps I did not get those genes. He was glad I was “aware” and involved with my heart health. We left there with grateful hearts for good news. We left there grateful for this new day.

I know my blog readers are for the most part people I love so I feel comfortable asking you to read my second paragraph again. Let today be a “new day” for you.
